100 years young
In 2023, South Texas College of Law celebrated its centennial year. As part of a robust fundraising strategy around the centennial events, the fundraising team wanted a unique way to market the school and its Advocacy program. They needed content and a medium that would appeal to all of the school’s target audiences: donors and prospects, alumni, faculty and current and prospective students
Storytelling at the core
Storytelling is key to engaging prospects, inspiring emotion and the desire to get involved. Nothing tells a story like a powerful film. We recommended producing a full-length sports-style documentary to tell the story of law training through mock trial and moot court competitions, as well as the special class the law school convened to help prepare an alum for his Supreme Court case. RTRN brought in an award-winning filmmaker to capture key stakeholder interviews on film and behind the scenes competition footage. Our strategy included building a bank of footage for social, PR and fundraising purposes.
Through centennial and beyond
The working title film screened at a premier centennial event for 250+ key stakeholders and potential donors. Our plan includes festival submissions and streaming service pitching to establish a creditable external source of promotion for South Texas College of Law. The fundraising team will use the film to increase brand awareness, deepen donor engagement, and elevate the college’s reputation. Special edits from the film footage can also double as marketing, student recruitment, and social media content.
